The respons on the short clip has been overwhelming! • Strong turbulence - Otertinden 1354 moh - ... 70K views! A lot of good questions and safety discussions. Some have asked if I can post the full video so they can better understand the context of the incidence. Well, here it is! I suppose what shocked me the most was that I actually went back to the front to see if I could catch another thermal. At a safer distanse thoug, but still.. Its like going back to the same restaurant after a food poisoning😅 One of my best Paragliding memories actually happened after I landed from this flight. I guess a got a bit shaken after that turbulence, so I misnavigated and entered Signaldalen, that is a dead-end of mountains towards the border of Finland. I remember getting the "Welcome to Finland" text on my phone and then thermals endes and I had to find a place to land. Less then a minute after landing, a car pulled up. I was not sure what to expect as the area is, at best, very remote. The driver, an old fellow wearing a red checked Canada shirt and a long white beard walked towards me and started asking where I came from. He had been following me in his car for over an hour, because he was so exited about seeing a paraglider for the first time. He offered me a lift in his car to take me back to the main road. In the car he told me he had lived his whole life in that valley. There he lived self sustained at the age of 84, cutting his own firewood and removing snow with his tractor. The best place in the World, he told me. And that if paragliding was around when he was my age he would be flying all the time. But, he told me, he could no longer walk as far and as fast as he used to. He slowed down the car, and reached over for a catalogue that wa lying on the dashboard in front of me. I bought this bad-boy! He pointed at an electric-bicycle in the magazine. With this I can go everywhere I want in the valley, and also get some exercise. I asked him what he liked to do on his spare time. He answered, I go places on my motorcycle. And next weekend he was going to Bodø to a MC-party with his girlfriend. We got to the main road, and I thanked him for the ride. I did not only survive the turbulence on Otertinden. I also got to meet my new hero and update my life goals: @84 years old: -still explores the world -exercises -rides a motorbike to party with his girlfriend
