SaharaTV caught up with Professor Humphrey Nwosu, the former chairman of Nigeria's National Electoral Commission (NEC), after he delivered a public lecture on elections in Africa at the City University of New York. In this interview, Prof. Nwosu explained the circumstances leading to the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. He confirms that the election, adjudged to be the freest and fairest in Nigeria's history, was won by Chief M.K.O Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Professor Nwosu mentioned names of several characters involved in the schemes that led to the annulment of the election, among them current Nigerian senate President David Mark.
