Unfortunately, his love of the art and quest for perfection led him to slightly exceed the deadline in delivering the sword. But the King couldn’t accept it, so he ordered the sword maker’s execution. At that time, the sword maker’s wife was pregnant with Nie Zheng. After Nie Zheng grew up, his mother told him about his father’s death. Since then, Nie Zheng has vowed to avenge his father and assassinate the King. Nie Zheng learned swordsmanship to be better prepared for his avenge while looking for opportunities to go into the Palace. One day he found the opportunity to work in the Palace as a bricklayer. Unfortunately, the first assassination failed. First, Nie Zheng fled to the Mountain Tai and learned the Chinese zither. Then, fear of being recognized, he changed his appearance, swallowed the charcoal to alter its sound, and pulled out all his teeth.  After ten years of hard work, the brave man became a master of the zither and returned to the King's Palace as the greatest zither master. To avoid the search by the guards, he hid a dagger inside the zither. In the face of his enemy, Nie Zheng performed to the best of his ability. The music made the King and the guards around him so enchanted that they all relaxed their vigilance. Seeing the opportunity, Nie Zheng pulled out his dagger and slammed it into the King. The King was stabbed to death. Nie Zheng had finally assassinated the King to revenge his father and to protect his family, he committed suicide after the King's death. 《广陵散》取材于《琴操》中的《聂政刺韩王曲》。此古筝曲由同名古琴曲经王昌元改编倾诉着一个惊天地、泣鬼神的悲壮故事。 据《琴操》所载，战国时期，聂政的父亲担任了为韩哀侯铸剑的任务。可是，他超过了工期却没有完成，韩侯就下令杀害了他。当时，聂政还没有出生。聂政长大成人后，他的母亲告诉了他父亲是怎么死的。从此，聂政发誓为父报仇，刺杀韩王。 聂政学习剑术，以泥瓦匠身份混入韩王宫。遗憾的是，首次行刺未成。于是聂政逃进泰山，与仙人习琴。怕被人认出，就改变容貌。漆身为厉，吞炭变其音，还拔掉（或者说击落）所有牙齿。后来，苦练十年弹得一手好琴，辞师回韩国。 聂政重回韩国，弹琴时观者成行，马牛止听。聂政名声大起来之后，韩侯下旨召聂政进宫弹琴。为避开禁卫搜查，藏利刃于琴内，神态自若步入宫内。面对自己的杀父仇人，聂政使出浑身解数抚琴弄音。仙乐般的琴声，让韩侯和他周围的卫士们听得如醉如痴，都放松了警惕。聂政见此时机，抽出琴内短剑，猛地一扑，韩侯猝不及防，当场被刺死。聂政因自皮面决眼，自屠出肠，遂以死，无人能辨刺客是谁。
