In His response, Jesus declares that Peter, rather than laying down his life for Jesus, will deny Him three times before the sun rises the next morning. Peter both overestimated his commitment to Jesus and underestimated his ability to fall short of the glory of God. From this we take two warnings, to neither overestimate our commitment nor underestimate our ability to fall short.
