LET’S TALK ABOUT PERIODONTAL CONVERSIONS! We all have those patients at our dental practice where communication at the best of times can be… complicated. When we add an also complicated conversation to this equation, this can leave the best of ‘conversation starters’ wondering - How do we talk to the patient about it? How do you talk to patients about periodontal conversions? Have a tip to add to the conversation? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section! Tips and Take-Aways: 1. When facing insurance barriers, make sure to have all documentation ready and on hand before walking into the conversation with your patient. 2. We need to remember that no matter what the reason or situation that has created the need for this conversation, it IS a difficult conversation to have. 3. Ultimately, we all want our patients to have the right care. We need to find a way to navigate these conversations to get our patients where they need to be, in the most tactful manner possible. 4. As a care-giver to our patients, it is extremely important that we are confident in our conversation and able to explain to the patient that i) something has changed, ii) what we are doing is no longer working, and iii) we need to do something different!
