➡️ Bulgaria and the German concern Rheinmetall have signed a contract that kicks off a project to build a gunpowder and ammunition plant in Bulgaria. This coincided with the European Union's efforts to accelerate military production amid Russia's war against Ukraine and concerns that the United States will limit its role in Europe's defense. ------------- Translation ------------- 🔸 02:50 min. Rosen Jeliazkov - Bulgarian PM The signatures are already in place. We are nearing the end of a very dynamic, but very well-worked atmosphere process for the preparation of the shareholder agreement and the application to him for the establishment of a joint partnership between Rheinmetall and WMZ Sopot. There is a lot of work ahead of us, a lot of work that will lead to the creation of a huge potential in Bulgaria through the Bulgarian plant, which is a huge step forward in the Bulgarian industrial defense capabilities. The most important thing that we have achieved during these months of joint work is the built trust. This is the built predictability and predictability between the partners, who from now on will work in, I would say, difficult conditions, but knowing what the final result will be, confident in the achievement of this cooperation. Allow me to give the floor to the principal of WMZ, the Minister of Economy and Industry, Mr. Dilozapovajita. 🔸04:26 min. Petar Dilov - Bulgarian minister of economy Mr. Prime Minister, Your Excellency, Mr. Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Borisov, Mr. Paperger, dear guests, colleagues and partners. Today is an important day for Bulgaria and for our partners from the Federal Republic of Germany. With the signing of this agreement, we are starting a strategic partnership between the Bulgarian state and the German technology company Rheinmetall, a partnership that will change the future of the Bulgarian defense industry. I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Paperger and his team for their high professionalism, for the consistency and dedication with which we approached this joint project. I would also like to thank the colleagues from the WMZ and, in particular, the Executive Director, Mr. Ivan Getsov, for their efforts and expertise, which made this day possible. I would also like to express my special gratitude to Mr. Borisov for his personal commitment and support in the implementation of this strategic partnership. And, of course, to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Zelaskov, and all the members of the Council of Ministers. Without their vision and support, this project would not have become a reality. This is a strategic project not only for Bulgaria, but for the whole of Europe. It will give us the opportunity to build a stable and independent defense capacity that will support the security of the entire region. The project is part of the common conditions of the European Union and NATO for strengthening the defense capabilities and strategic autonomy of Europe in the context of the new geopolitical reality. Today we are laying the foundations of a partnership that unites the technological experience of Germany and the industrial potential of Bulgaria to build a more secure future for Europe. 🔸 06:32 min. Rosen Jeliazkov - Bulgarian PM Thank you, Mr. Papergear. Dear Mr. Papergear, dear Mr. Borisov, Your Excellency, Some would call today's ceremony historical, others would not have paid attention, and thirdly, they would certainly not have saved the critics. The assessment will be given probably beyond time and space and beyond the participants in this ceremony. The important thing is that there are several dimensions, and they are not limited to the numbers, they are not limited to the assets, they are not limited to the production. The dimensions are political, because this project would not have been possible without the synergy that the EU and NATO generate so that Europe can be better preserved in the name of the citizens of Europe. It would not have been possible without its economic dimensions, dimensions that are not only related to technological transfer, not only to know-how, not only to the exchange of opportunities related to science, but also to all the complex sectoral and multisectoral issues. There are also social dimensions that are also beyond the disclosure of over 1,000 jobs. These are dimensions that are related to a highly qualified workforce, to education, to science, to regional development. These are things that exceed the concrete expectations of this project. And most of all, the investment environment, which is always based on one word, and the word is trust. Mr. Paperger, thank you for your trust. Mr. Borisov, thank you for your political will. May the new friendship be blessed. Thank you. #Bulgarian news network -------- Video courtesy: Council of ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria --------
