Rivers to discuss the play 'Tom' and their roles. We will explore freedom, equality and how this stage adaptation with music creates relevancy for ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’ in today's world. Ellen Geer’s adaptation brings new eyes to Harriet Beecher Stowe’s story. Before #Black Lives Matter was part of our lexicon, Stowe’s great novel demanded freedom and equality for all. It changed forever how Americans viewed slavery, galvanizing the abolition movement and contributing to the outbreak of the Civil War. Our show is honored to have Gerald C. Rivers is a talented actor, voiceover artist, teacher, inspirational speaker and a noted scholar on the words and works of Dr. King. Ernestine Phillips is an accomplished stage and television actor with appearances on Desperate Housewives, Glee, Bones, ER, Southland and The Shield.
