Wabakimi Solo Canoe Trip Part 1

I made my way to Wabakimi Provincial Park in northern Ontario for a solo canoe trip in 2017. It seems that most people fly in or use the train to access this vast area, but I found easy drive up access to the park and surrounding crown lands from the small town of Armstrong. I spent 15 days out, paddling a big loop to the north through large and small lakes and all kinds of weather conditions. The portages and fishing were great, and I went 12 days without seeing another person. In Part 1 I launch on Little Caribou Lake, travel to main Caribou Lake and head west. I enter the park in the western outlet arm of Caribou Lake and wander through the portages to Smoothrock Lake, then turn to the north.
