How To Tattoo - Packing Solid Black With A Mag For anyone wondering here is the Equipment I Used Axys Valhalla (4.2 Stroke, 10 Volts) Big Sleeps Killer Bee Black Needlejig 27 and 15 Curved Mag I like to use a longer stroke when packing in solid black or color because the longer the stroke the harder the hit, the shorter the stroke the softer the hit. The hard hit helps the ink get in there quickly and efficiently. For those of you that aren’t familiar with stroke.. stroke is the distance the needle is traveling up and down. This isn’t to be confused with your needle hang which is how far your needling is coming out of your tube. The killer bee black is my favorite black over all. You dont have to use it that is just what I use. And finally for the mags I used a 27 and 15 curved mag. I like to use the largest curved mags the design will allow me to use. Reason being more area is covered quicker which means less pain for the client. Also if you are using a liner to fill in a huge field of black like this chances are you are going to beat up the skin and the tattoo will heal terribly.
