Recently, the stock hard drive in my 2002 PAL model original Xbox died. The Xbox was soft modded and could go online with Insignia. The only indicators of a failed HDD for me were the clicking noise you can hear in the video and the Xbox giving an error 7 and wouldn’t boot. As you may be aware, OG Xbox hard drives are locked to the console they came from with a specific HDD key, so you cannot plug in any random drive to replace. Luckily I had my HD key noted down from a recent install of Insignia and used that to lock my new SSD so that the Xbox would recognise it. This video details the parts you will need to drop in a new SSD/HDD into your OG Xbox and the process in doing so, including formatting a the drive with FatXplorer and adding dashboards and files etc. I bought the parts to install the SSD from this eBay seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/pottersbar... SSD was purchased for £7 from Amazon. Hope this video helps and that it makes sense! Errors in the video - my description of the screw positions in the disc caddies is completely wrong. There are screws either side of the DVD and HDD drive as well as a screw at the top of the DVD caddy. The other silly error was that I said the boot up time was 30 mins at the end of the video, when I actually meant 30 seconds!
