Ancora oggi, a vent'anni dalla sua uscita, MEMORIA è documento storico assolutamente unico, che raccoglie le testimonianze di 90 degli ebrei italiani reduci della deportazione ad Auschwitz fra il 1943 e il 1945, nei luoghi allora ancora poco noti in cui si consumò la loro esperienza. Il documentario contiene, infatti, immagini preziose del Binario 21 nella sua forma originale, da poco scoperto grazie al lavoro della Fondazione CDEC assieme a Liliana Segre. Vi sono poi sequenze girate dentro il campo di Auschwitz, a Fossoli, nel ghetto di Venezia, dove le voci dei sopravvissuti ci guidano. Candidato al Festival del Cinema di Berlino. Written by Marcello Pezzetti and Liliana Picciotto from the CDEC Foundation, directed by Ruggero Gabbai for Forma International in 1997, the movie has been restored in 2017. Even today, twenty years after, MEMORIA is an absolutely unique historical document: it collects the testimonies of 90 of the Italian Jews, who were deported to Auschwitz between 1943 and 1945, and it is filmed in those places where the Shoah took place - little known back than.
