2025 USPSC International Film Festival 1st place winner! "Seventy-Four" is a short proof-of-concept movie based on the true story of the collision of the USS Frank E. Evans and Australian aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne on June 3, 1969, while on a SEATO exercise in the South China Sea. Chris Goodenough writes both the full-length feature and proof-of-concept screenplays. The short film is produced and directed by Bill Thibeault, who was a sailor on board the Evans at the time. The story focuses on the lives of Gary, Greg, and Kelly Jo Sage, three brothers who were among 74 sailors who lost their lives when the Evans accidentally crossed the bow of the Melbourne, was cut in half, and sank in about 3 minutes. Even though they fought in the Vietnam War, the 74 names are not on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., because at the time of the collision, they were approximately 100 miles outside of the official combat zone. This short film is being submitted to film festivals, and the goal of this movie is to generate interest from either major studios or investors to produce the blockbuster feature film that deserves to be made. 🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up?
