During the August 2022 Pain Science Lecture Series, Brittney Jones, PsyD, presents a lecture entitled: "Rethinking Our Thoughts to Manage Chronic Pain." The Pain Science Lecture Series was created in 2016 by Heather Poupore-King, PhD, a Stanford clinical associate professor in the division of pain medicine and pain psychologist, to provide community-based education about chronic pain. These free monthly series are presented by Stanford pain medicine and pain psychology fellows and focus on various topics, including biological, psychological, behavioral and social factors as they relate to the experience of chronic pain. 0:00 Introduction — Rethinking Our Thoughts to Manage Chronic Pain 0:14 About the Speaker 1:35 What Is Pain and Why Emotions Matter 4:29 How Pain Is Processed in the Body 6:06 Pain and the Brain 7:31 The Biopsychosocial Model 11:24 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Pain 15:58 Common Thinking Traps 20:01 Changing How We Perceive Pain 22:12 Resources and Closing Sign up for Pain Science Lecture Series email updates here: https://stan.md/3w3RW7L Stanford Division of Pain Medicine: https://med.stanford.edu/pain.html Stanford Pain on Facebook: / stanfordpainmedicine Stanford Pain on Instagram: / stanford.pain Stanford Pain on Twitter: / stanfordpain Stanford Pain on LinkedIn: / stanford-pain-medicine
