What is finite element analysis? Have you been looking for finite element analysis LS-DYNA tutorial for beginners? This channel is here to explain the details of finite element analysis and the finite element method in simple to understand concepts. This video shows how to set up an axial compression simulation for a hollow cylinder, and how to retrieve useful data from the outputs. The simulation is setup using a pre-processor, LS-PrePost, and is simulated through LS-DYNA explicit analysis. Download the LS-Dyna example model to follow along: https://feassistant.com/product/cylin... All of the meshing and model set up can be done through the free to download PrePost software. The boundary conditions are defined as a single-point constraint (SPC) for the bottom set of nodes and a boundary prescribed motion for the top set of nodes. Outputs can be defined using the database options to set up sensors for force and deflection. I'll also go over how to visualize a strain heat map for the cylinder through time.
