PLOT: The teens finally land on Fireworm Island and Hiccup and Snotlout look for a cure for Hookfang. In the cave they find combs of gel, which could cure Hookfang. Willing to save his friend, Snotlout takes the gel, but they are chased by the Fireworm Queen. Outside Astrid and Merida try to fight the Queen, giving Snotlout time to tend to Hookfang. But the dragon doesn’t want to eat the gel, because he knows the Queen would avenge the theft. Meanwhile Merida charges the Queen, but is about to be eaten. As Snotlout sees this, he wants to fight himself, but Hookfang gives the jelly back to the Queen, in order to protect the others. The Queen takes the gel and grabs Hookfang to bite him. Hookfang supposedly dies and Snotlout is devastated. Merida is so emotional, that she tells Snotlout she loves him. In that moment Hookfang wakes up. The venom of the Queen healed him. Merida realizes what she just did and that she really loves Snotlout. The princess is more determined than ever not to marry Hiccup. SPOILERS: Back on Berk the day of the wedding has arrived and Merida, Snotlout and Hookfang decide to run away together. But in the wood Merida falls and is hurt badly. Snotlout takes her back to the village, where Merida falls unconscious. Elanor is shocked and worried for her daughter. She realizes her mistake of forcing her into something she doesn’t want and the consequences this caused. Merida is taken to Gothi to heal. After she wakes up, Elanor apologizes to Merida. A few days later there is a large feast to celebrate Meridas’ recovery and Snotlout is celebrated as her savior. Hiccup is happy to see his former fiancée well again and smiles at her, knowing what she is about to say. Merida holds a speech about the meaning of love and how everyone should decide for themselves who they love. Hiccup finally has the chance to give Astrid his specal gift, he wanted to present her before the Scots arrived: a betrothal necklace. Inspired by Hiccups gift, Snotlout also makes a special something for Merida.
