I spent a day exploring South America's largest lake, Lake Titicaca. The body of water is known as the world's highest navigable lake, sitting at around 12,500 feet above sea level. Situated on the border of Peru and Bolivia, the lake was a key area for the Inca Civilization, which flourished more than 500 years ago. In this video I take a boat ride on the lake, visit the historic Isla del Sol and spend time in the town of Copacabana. It's both fun and educational! 0:00 - Introduction 0:53 - Tiquina Strait 2:51 - Copacabana 3:47 - Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana 4:52 - On Lake Titicaca 6:38 - Isla del Sol 7:07 - Pilkokaina 7:57 - Hiking Isla del Sol 9:25 - Village of Yumani 10:38 - Return to Copacabana 11:43 - Conclusion Music provided by Epidemic Sound. Having retired in 2023, I now travel full-time, seeing places all around the world. My idea for YouTube is to make the videos more about the places and people along the way, than about me. I hope that the experience for you is both entertaining and educational. Perhaps you will come away from my channel with ideas about places you would like to visit or be inspired to forge your own way. I travel slowly, spending four or five weeks in each destination. Hopefully, that will allow me to go beyond the surface to find the essence of each location. By the end of 2024, I will have visited 14 countries and five of the seven continents. Come along for the journey!
