In my twenties, Paris felt like a promise. I continued studying art, copying paintings in museums, and spending my days surrounded by musicians who lived together in an old building with a courtyard. Mornings began with music — piano, violin, a quartet rehearsing — while I sat quietly and sketched them before heading to art school or the museum, absolutely certain that this was my path to becoming a great artist. I never became famous, and eventually I even stopped painting. But Paris taught me something far more lasting: how to truly see art.
