Originating as a small fishing village, Roda has grown into a welcoming summer resort—quiet off-season and bustling between May–October. The town center is flat, low-rise, and walkable, with a broad sandy beach running right alongside cafes, bars, and small shops. The main beach is sandy, Blue Flag–awarded, and lined with sunbeds, umbrellas, and water-sport facilities (paddleboards, kayaks, splash inflatables). Thankfully, I brought my paddleboard, so I didn't need to rent and have the freedom of time to explore the surroundings on my SUP. Moving east toward Acharavi, the beach becomes quieter and more pebbly—great if you prefer a more tranquil vibe. The beachside promenade is lined with a diverse mix: Greek tavernas, British-style pubs (with Sky Sports), cocktail bars, and international cuisines. Roda offers a great variety of activities like boat trips, excursions to Paxos/Antipaxos, and Aqualand Waterpark nearby. Furthermore, you can go horseback riding through olive groves. Roads around Roda are mostly flat and easy - a completely different experience from Kontogialos. Roda is known for its calm, shallow waters, it’s an ideal spot for families and return visitors, with a largely British and European crowd.
