SPACE BEE TRIVIA: From the Designer, Connie Vogelmann via BGG (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3149... “All of the factions, except one, are abbreviated names for subspecies of Apis Mellifera - and their abilities and traits are (loosely) aligned to those subspecies. The last faction is Visah. +10 brownie points if any of my fellow beekeepers can piece together where that name came from :-). It's not a current subspecies, but is a play off of something that may become one in the future. In addition, all of the names of planets are adaptations of family names of different types of plants - the thought process was that this game is being told from the perspective of the bees, and so if they're naming the planets, then they might be particularly focused on the plant life therein. Although they wouldn't necessarily be using the same terms that us humans use, maybe they studied the ruins of ancient humanity and kept some of the same terminology.” FYI - VSH means 'Varroa Sensitive Hygiene', the hygienic behavior by which some workers are able to recognize, open and remove the capped brood in which a varroa mite is reproducing.
