You’re probably wondering about the verse that says, “Be fruitful and multiply.” I did too, until I looked more closely at that scripture in context. That instruction has nothing to do with having children. In Genesis, Adam and Eve don’t have a child until after they’re sent out of the garden (Genesis 4:1). Then, cross-reference that with the Book of Jubilees, which I like to call Baby Genesis. In chapter 3, verses 8–9, it looks like Adam and Eve waited about 49 years to conceive Abel. Suffice it to say, having kids was not their first priority.
