The shadow as a metaphysical and psychological concept can be regarded as the thing that connects the parts of the self, as it safeguards the conscious from the secrets of the subconscious. The story follows the fiction of losing one’s shadow and explores the ensuing psychological breakdown in five distinct nightmares.
