Vultures are facing an extinction crisis in several parts of the world. Let's investigate what is happening and why we should save the vultures! Please subscribe to continue learning what makes life AWESOME: https://BioBush.tv/subscribe Thanks to Vernon Fridy for sharing his vulture conservation expertise! Any remaining errors are mine. The Indian Vulture Crisis (centered in India, but involving several surrounding countries) arose because of medication used in domesticated animals. Those animals were allowed to roam free, and if they died of natural causes, would pass medication to vultures that came to eat them. These medications poisoned vultures. The worst medications have been banned, but there are still several in use that cause problems for vultures. The African Vulture Crisis is more about poaching. Vultures circle around large dead animals, giving away the location of poachers' illegal killing. So poachers will intentionally kill vultures to hide their activity. Vultures themselves can also become the target of poaching because their body parts are used in traditional medicine. Vultures are slow to reproduce, so their numbers have been in steep decline in these two areas. We suggest several solutions, including one that can be done by any creative person!
