HPV is Human Papilloma Virus. It is of multiple types. Most important ones are 9, 11, 16, 18 for which we worry around. These are self limiting conditions. The basic 16,18 are of worrisome. But otherwise the others are benign and do not causes much of changes. 9,11 does cause genital warts. But other types we do not treat unless they are causing any problems. So basically you don’t have a cure as such. Once you have a HPV virus you may carry it for sometimes. They may vanish at other points of time. You treat for whatever HPV virus has caused. There are certain HPV like 9 and 11 which causes genital warts. So if there are genital warts you can treat them. There are other types of HPV like 16, 18,31,33 which are the causes of cervical cancer. So if you have HPV DNA positive then you have to be careful to look forward for any changes that is happening which may future lead to cervical cancer. Cervical cancer starts off and has a long period. So you can diagnose that there are changes which may future lead to cervical cancer and appropriately treat it.
