Lake Georgetown found right in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Built by the ASACE in the 1980s for both flood control on the and municipal water supply. The dam impounds the San Gabriel River. Located on the south shore of the lake is a beautiful little COE campground called Cedar Breaks Park. Cedar Breaks Park is named after the large number of eastern red cedars found in the hill country where stands of juniper trees are referred to as “breaks” and are very well know for being the cause of seasonal allergy problems. Cedar Breaks Campground is found on the south shores of Lake Georgetown. And features a beautiful day use area, two fishing docks and as well as a boat ramp. There are many miles of paved and un-paved hike and bike trails the circle the lake and connect you to the town of Georgetown along the banks of the beautiful San Gabriel River.
