The new setup integrates with a voice-over-IP (VoIP) system, eliminating the digital phone system entirely. We’re using a 66 block on each end, connected with an Amphenol cable. This thick, pre-terminated cable carries 25 pairs (50 conductors), providing a mirrored connection on both ends. It functions like a patch panel: signals on one block mirror on the other. Custom plugs on the 66 blocks help route specific signals, and we’re rerouting the paging connection to the new Zycoo adapter. The goal is to move the paging signal from the front counter to our new system without altering the existing paging setup. This means moving the cable from the old phone system to the 66 block connected to our Zycoo adapter, ensuring that the paging system continues to work seamlessly. As we work in this tight network closet, I’ll demonstrate the process of terminating cables with Phoenix plugs and RJ11 connectors. With the Amphenol and 66 blocks in place, our signal will carry through as planned. Working with braided conductors requires care—if they touch, the signal will short. I’ll show how to avoid that using Phoenix plugs and screwing down connections. We’re also repurposing a T1 port to connect the new cable. T1 smart jacks have labeled ports that correspond to circuit IDs. Here, we’re using circuit 1 for the paging signal. After testing with a new VoIP phone, we confirm the paging signal flows from the Zycoo adapter through the network to the speaker horn, ensuring the setup works as intended.
