Due to the creative differences, Jimmy page look to create a new band. After trying to recruit Jeff Beck and The Who’s drummer and bassist, Keith Moon and John Entwistle. The group never materialized however. With help of the Yardbirds manager, Peter Grant, Page offered Terry Reid the lead singer position, Jimmy Page was impressed with his session work with…….. but, Terry Reid declined.( And later Terry Reid declined Richie Blackmore of Deep purple the same position.) This refusal of Jimmy page’s offer was a blessing in disguise, as Terry Reid suggested Robert Plant, who was with the Band of Joy. Robert Plant accepted and suggested the former drummer of The Band of Joy John Bonham. And for the final position of bass, John Paul Jones inquired about it, as he knew Jimmy Page from previous session work. Now the band had its four members. They started touring in October 1968 and were billed as The New Yardbirds, this moniker didn't last and was quickly changed to Led Zeppelin later that month.
