Dropped in feeling confident… which should’ve been my first red flag. Landed on the edge of the map because hot drops are for people who believe in themselves. First chest? Green AR. Second chest? Bots. So many bots. I started questioning if Epic accidentally put me in a training lobby or if the island just felt bad for me. Every “elim” came with that awkward pause where I’m like, “…wait… that was a real person, right?” The way they stood still, missed every shot, and built absolutely nothing told me everything I needed to know. At this point I wasn’t playing Fortnite — I was running a bot extermination service. Mid game was just me rotating cautiously like I had a bounty on my head, even though the only thing chasing me was storm and my own lack of confidence. Loot was stacked, aim was questionable, and every time I heard footsteps my soul briefly left my body… until I realized it was just another NPC sprinting directly at me with zero plan. Then it happened. A real player. Actual movement. Actual pressure. My heart rate doubled. I missed half a mag, panic-slid into a tree, somehow cracked them, and after a very uncoordinated spray-and-pray, I got the elim. I immediately crouched for a full three seconds to process what just happened. Late game rolls around and I’m sitting there with double-digit elims, knowing deep down at least 80% of them were bots who never stood a chance. Final circles were pure survival mode — rotating early, avoiding fights, and praying everyone else eliminated each other. Ended the match with a respectable placement, a mountain of bot eliminations, and the quiet knowledge that I technically won most of my fights… even if the bots did most of the heavy lifting by standing still. Zero Build solo secured. Confidence slightly boosted. Ego kept safely in check. A win is a win. Bots count.
