Choledocholithiasis is a medical terminology for gall stone that is stuck in the bile duct. Most of the gall stones are present in the gall bladder. During the process of the bladder pumping out the bile juice, sometimes a stone may migrate and get wedged in the narrowed area. This is called as choledocholithiasis. People can be asymptomatic or people may experience pain and because of the blockage of the flow of the bile. People can also report of also report of dark urine, pale stools. Itching of the skin, associated with abnormalities in the liver chemistry when the blood tests are done. This is managed by fishing out the stones that is stuck in the bile duct. Third is done with a specialised piece of equipment called as an ERCP scope, which is an endoscopic procedure done under sedation wherein the doctor injects some contrast into the bile duct and identifies the stone and then removes the stone with the help of variety of equipments that is available to them, puts in a plastic stent to aid free flow of bile on some occasions.
