A rough guide and ideas on building a sail riser for a Hobie TI or Hobie AI. I've used this one for nearly a year both on Oklahoma lakes and a couple of eight mile trips offshore. I'm confident that its a solid platform and will perform well. TAKE NOTE.... I built this sail riser a year before I took the video and wanted to test it out before I suggested it to anyone. DO NOT USE 1 1/2 PVC schedule 40. Use 1 1/4 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe. 1 1/2 will be too large. The 1 1/4 schedule 40 will be a little loose in the rod holders, so support it with two pieces of thin walled PVC pipe (schedule 26). Each piece only needs to be six inches long and split down the length. slide it on the sail riser legs and once the legs are placed into the rod holders, slide the thin wall PVC down the legs and into the rod holder with the schedule 40 pipe. This will make it all fit tight. Sorry for any confusion.
