Art by B.T.- https://benytchaicovsky.website / benytchaicovsky World-renowned theoretical physicist David Bohm interviewed about "The Nature of MATTER" and his observations about the co-exploration of consciousness between J. Krishnamurti and himself by David Suzuki. David Bohm (1917-1992) was an American theoretical physicist who contributed innovative and unorthodox ideas to quantum theory, philosophy of mind, and neuropsychology. He is widely considered to be one of the most significant theoretical physicists of the 20th century. In physics, Bohm advanced the view that the old Cartesian model of reality was limited, in the light of developments in quantum physics. He developed in detail a mathematical and physical theory of implicate and explicate order to complement it. Bohm warned of the dangers of rampant reason and technology, advocating instead the need for genuine supportive dialogue which he claimed could broaden and unify conflicting and troublesome divisions in the social world. His epistemology mirrored his ontological viewpoint. He believed that the working of the brain, at the cellular level, obeyed the mathematics of some quantum effects. Therefore, he postulated that thought was distributed and non-localized in the way that quantum entities do not readily fit into our conventional model of space and time (Wikipedia.org). David Bohm was the maverick physicist who proposed an alternative approach to the conventional version of quantum theory and suggested that a new Implicate Order lay behind what could be thought of as our surface perception of reality. But Bohm’s ideas extended well beyond theoretical physics and included reflections on the nature of creativity and the order of society and the individual. The presenters we have gathered will also look at the personal life of David Bohm, his relationship with J. Robert Oppenheimer, his encounter with the House Un-American Activities and his subsequent exile to Brazil; his friendship with Krishnamurti which led to a series of discussions between the two men and is considered one of the most important encounters of his life; the dialogue process he proposed which he felt could bring about a transformation in the individual and society; and his crucial meeting with the indigenous people of North America at the end of his life. Krishnamurti was Bohm's greatest influence and both men were deeply concerned about the future of humanity. They both engaged in intense dialogues spanning three decades and they had deep respect and friendship for each other. David Bohm was 43 years old when he met Krishnamurti, and Krishnamurti was 66. The year was 1961, and their work together continued for a quarter of a century, until Krishnamurti died in 1986. During those 25 years, the two men participated together in hundreds of recorded dialogues.
