Objective: Learn to create a simple macrame coaster using a pattern of alternating square knots. Step 2: Secure the ten pieces of string to a dowel rod using a larks head knot. Step 3: Create a row of square knots (five knots). Step 4: Skip the outer two strands and create a second row of square knots (four knots). Step 5: Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you have a total of eleven rows of alternating square knots. Step 6: Remove the completed coaster from the dowel rod. Step 7: Trim the ends of the coaster using a paint stir stick as a guide. Step 8: Pour a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy your coaster! Hand wash. Lay flat to dry.
