How's it goin', neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're takin' a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior rooftop basket on our 2020 Ford Explorer. Adding a rooftop basket to the top of your Explorer is gonna allow you to increase your cargo capacity by takin' advantage of the negative space on top of your roof. What's special about the SkinnyWarrior is the fact that it is narrow, so that allows you to get a basket up here, but frees up the other half of your roof rack system to add in other things like kayak carriers, bike carriers, or maybe even a cargo box. Takin' a closer look at the SkinnyWarrior itself, the way that it works, it's gonna have a clamp system that wraps around your bars. Right now, I have the Thule WingBar Evo on here, but they'll work with just about any style bar. So if you have round, square, factory, whatever, this is gonna work for you. And if you we inchesre wantin' additional security, the clamps themselves can be switched out for lockable clamps. As far as the material it's made of, is a powder coated steel that's gonna hold up against the elements out in the world, and just keep it in really good shape. If you find yourself in a position where you don't have enough room, there is an extension piece that you can add, but it will interfere with the back of the vehicle. So we're gonna open up the hatch and take a look. And you can see that you're not gonna run into any contact with the carrier itself. So you still have room to access your cargo area, provided you don't have anything on your hitch. So, takin' a look at the front of the carrier, you can see that the Yakima SkinnyWarrior has a included plastic fairing that's gonna help cut down on the wind noise to help you have a quieter, more comfortable ride. In general, I'm a big fan of Yakima products. They're really great quality, and they're gonna be very easy for you to use. If you we inchesre lookin' for something that gave you more storage on top of the roof, wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at some of the options as far as full-size rooftop baskets.
