Ramadan took an unexpected turn in Dubai… 🌙 In this vlog, I share our peaceful iftar preparation — making the yummiest khichra and shahi tukde — when suddenly at 8:30PM we received an emergency alert from the UAE government advising residents to stay indoors and avoid windows and doors. Later at 11:30PM, neighbours reported seeing missiles passing through our area. We didn’t hear any explosion as authorities reportedly intercepted them mid-air. Around 12:38AM, more alerts were issued by the Ministry of Interior. Reports circulated about debris falling near City Walk and other areas like Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Dubai Marina, Jebel Ali and International City. After tensions between the United States and Iran escalated in the region, UAE authorities issued precautionary alerts. Schools informed parents that learning would shift online temporarily and exams were postponed as a safety measure. We packed our emergency documents — passports and important papers — just in case. Eishaal packed her plushies and said something that broke my heart: “My life didn’t even start…” 😢 But we reminded her to trust Allah and stay strong. By late night, families gathered outside our villa in fear, but by 2AM calm slowly returned. After that we went outside to have some tea. Life in Dubai appeared normal — supermarkets open, people are everywhere as usual. Alhamdulillah we are safe.
