Alpe Adria Trail Stage 28 from Castlemonte to Cividale del Friuli, Italy

After a return hike on the AAT 27 from Tolmin past the border and into Italy, we opted to hike part of Stage 28 from Castlemonte to Cividale del Friuli. Again, we were confronted with multiple trail options similar to what we had discovered in Slovenia. There was a map at the trailhead in Castlemonte which outlined the Camino Celeste (looks interesting!) and like our previous hiking days, we found ourselves on The Walk of Peace as well as the AAT. We didn't have our heavy packs on this day as we took a bus from our accommodations in Cividale del Friuli to the start of the day's trail. It was a steep downhill followed by a flat section through open fields and vineyards. It was a pleasant day and we were glad we packed plenty of water and a lunch as it was very hot and there didn't appear to be any amenities along the way. We found the Alpe Adria statue of a hiker once we reached town and it gave us a sense of "finishing" a stage, so we included a customary "jump" in the video. Well... kind of a jump as Lisa had a wee bit of trouble. lol
