Part 1 Solitude Mountain Wild Camp on Pen Summit, in Front of Scafell Pike via The Great Moss Valley

Part 1 I park in Eskdale and head up the Great Moss Valley one of the most stunning walks in the Lake District, my aim is Pen a summit in front of Scafell Pike. The sun is up but it’s a cold wind a reminder we’re still in winter and not quite spring yet. As I make my way up the valley the views get better and better and the summit of Pen comes into view. The route up Pen is partially pathless and steep but once on the summit the tuff hike up is worth it for the amazing views of the surrounding mountains. It’s dark soon another reminder we’re still in the colder months, the night is still and the morning is stunning with sunshine and amazing views. Once packed up I decided to stay another night and head off towards Scafell for another adventure.
