For the sample, I've used 4 ply sock yarn (mostly from Beehive Yarns) and a 3.5mm hook, and for the actual tutorial I've used Rico Baby Cotton Soft DK and a 4mm hook. You can use any yarn for this stitch - just remember to adjust your hook size. Please note that I am UK based and therefore use UK crochet terminology.
