Platforms, Tunnels, Bridges and Hills - New Layout - Part 2 - Yorkshire Dales Model Railway This week I made more progress on my new layout. I started by using poly filler to create the platform surfaces by smoothing it with some plastic. Once dry, I sanded this down and painted it grey. Using masking tape, I added the white platform edging and added fences. Next was the tack. I sprayed this brown and gave the rail heads a thorough clean with a track rubber. I dry drushed this with a lighter brown. For the landscape, I used whatever packaging I had available. After building up the hills with polysterene and cardboard, I covered this in plaster bandage. At this point I added coal staithes. It's worth noting that these wouldn't have backed onto the track as the doors on the coal wagons would not have been able to open properly - I made this mistake on my last layout, as everyone (including me) seems to copy the error! Finally, I made a road tunnel from an old Modelscene tunnel portal. As always, thanks for watching.
