Barbara Prestridge is the artist behind our new can, Long Time Gone. Her work is on display at Foam and Deep City through Jan 2025. We sat down with her to get some more insight into her as an artist and educator, and we ended up having an incredible conversation. Enjoy. Artist bio: Barbara Prestidge is a talented visual artist and educator, with a BFA in painting from Cornell University and advanced degrees from Syracuse and Kean Universities. Throughout her career, she has combined her passion for art with a commitment to teaching, working as an Arts Integration Specialist/Coach and inspiring both children and adults through creative expression. Barbara’s artistic journey spans from years of portraiture to exploring the challenges and joys of abstraction, with a particular love for the flow and luminosity of watercolor paints. Her approach to watercolors involves layered applications that create depth and richness of color, while also allowing the natural movement and flow of the medium to shine through. In her abstract works, she embraces the unpredictability of the process, trusting that patience and perseverance will guide her to moments of beauty. Barbara’s collection *Vermont Visions* celebrates the unique essence of Vermont, inspired by years of visiting the University of Vermont and her close connections with local residents. Her art captures the spirit of the state with gratitude and joy, and she invites viewers to experience the vibrant, imaginative energy of her work. ‍
