Keeneland gets things underway with “Fall Stars Weekend,” featuring nine graded stakes with $3.6 million in purses. Seven of the races are Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” contests, highlighted by Keeneland’s first $1 million race, the Grade I, Shadwell Turf Mile. To be run tomorrow, the race will feature two-time Horse-of-the-Year, Wise Dan. The weekend kicks off with today’s Grade I, $400,000 Darley Alcibiades and Grade III, $200,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix. Tomorrow’s program includes the Grade I, $500,000 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity, Grade I, $400,000 First Lady, Grade II, $200,000 Thoroughbred Club of America and Grade III, $150,000 Woodford. Sunday’s action offers the Grade I, $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster and Grade III, $250,000 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes. The Darley Alcibiades will also air on Prime Ticket and Fox Sports San Diego (check local listings). As part of Fall Stars Weekend coverage, TVG will utilize a number of production enhancements, including lipstick helmet cameras on select outriders and gate crew members, a steady-camera allowing for reporters to navigate the race competitors and virtual graphics to display prominent network sponsors and additional betting information. Rounding out Keeneland’s six Grade I races is the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, scheduled for Saturday, October 11.
