Back in 1998 we began to Explore the Abandoned Western Printing Building in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.. It's long gone now ( theres a Home Depot, McDonalds and strip mall over top of it ) But my Grandmother, My mother and most local peoples family's had some sort of connection to this place. They produced comic books and children's books mainly, I still can remember my Grandmother inking comics assembly line style where each person would fill in a color on a comic cell and mail it off to the next person / color. However since it closed by 1984 I mainly remember it as the hulking decaying factory we'd pass by. Im not sure how I first got wind writers we're getting in and painting. I believe MEZ and ULTRA (.com) were probably the first in.. I found this raw footage I shot back then of my boy MZR painting and added a little history so you know what the place was. I left it without music because you can fell the tension in the silence in there..And I like that, It's how it felt.
