This is a slow release, long term solution to calcium deficiency and it is extremely cheap, almost free since you typically throw away your eggshells. After you crush or grind your eggshells, add them to the garden with some sulphur pellets (not too much, just a peppering). I like to spread the powdered eggshells around all of my garden so that the top of the soil is white, then I throw on some sulphur and if I have it on hand, some soft rock phosphate as a bonus.
