This is the rarest piece of tech I own, besides the zd7000 prototype AKA "HP Media Center" (doesn't work and didn't review it). The "HP Media Center" was cancelled and its shell (excluding the screen), was used in the Pavilion zd7000. However, the "HP Media Center" would enter production after the zd7000 had its success, and it would flop big time. After that, the HP Agency Series PP2180 (HP Pavilion zd7000, HP Media Center, and HP Compaq nx9500) would be discontinued and replaced with an "improved" zd series. The zd8000 had a glossy screen like the "HP Media Center", and build quality of an obscure Chinese computer manufacturer. The GPU was so defective, that within a few days of usage by the end user, vertical lines would appear on the screen, followed by Windows crashing. On top of that, the battery would extremely overheat, causing burns to a user touching it, and heating the connector so much that the motherboard would overheat itself, to a point where it would stop working at all. Everyone who bought it were infuriated, and most people sued HP for this reason. Unlike the ATI GPU version, the Nvidia GPU models would just get a black screen within the same period of usage. All examples of both the ATI and Nvidia models no longer work, and the only working ones on eBay are rare early-2007 revision models that addressed the vertical lines on the ATI models. While the overheating battery is still an issue, removing the defective battery, getting a revised battery, or using the laptop with just AC power (as you should) would solve the problem. HP being the corporate motherfuckers they are, didn't bother to create another model or improve their customer service to be on par with Dell. However they eventually did, but it was too late. In late 2007, the zd8000 was discontinued and replaced by the already existing dv8000, which would eventually be replaced by the dv9000. That laptop gave HP the horrible reputation they have today, and the lawsuit surrounding the battery as well. The other HP laptops I have are surprisingly good quality, as they all still work. However, they may be delicate, and one small drop, small step, or mishandling the display portion may fuck them up. Anyway, here's the specs of the revised model: https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-pavi...
