Date filmed: 22/11/2022 Video filmed at 13:39 Route: Yorkshire Coast Line Between Arram and Hutton Cranswick Stations Crossing type: Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC) Location: Beswick Road, Beswick Trains featured: 1) 2 Class 37s (37 422 & 37 425) Rail Head Treatment Train (Direct Rail Services) - 1:08 3J51 York Thrall Europa ➡ York Thrall Europa 2) Class 158 (Northern) - 1:13 (Passes at the same time) 1W44 Sheffield ➡ Scarborough An automatic half barrier level crossing a few miles north of Beverley in a rural part of East Riding of Yorkshire. In this video, a pair of Class 37 locomotives on a Rail Head Treatment Train pass here at the very same time as a Class 158 heads in the opposite direction on a passenger service along the line to Scarborough, and the leading locomotive can be seen sporting an incredibly tasteful headboard! Had I been on the other side of the tracks and level crossing, my view of the Rail Head Treatment Train would have been blocked by the diesel multiple unit. You can briefly hear the alarms speeding up just after the 37s pass as the level crossing warns that more than one train is passing during this activation. Despite the fact that this is a narrow, single-track road (albeit one that widens into two lanes at the level crossing), the barriers are really quite long, which looks quite odd, and the level crossing you can hear in the distance at the start of the video is Kilnwick Level Crossing from about only half a mile away. These two make up part of a run of eight public highway level crossings within about six miles from Arram to the village of Hutton a few miles from Driffield. Thanks for watching!
