Las Vegas recreates popular Elvis concert

55 years ago, in 1970, Elvis Aaron Presley was incredibly popular, marking a significant resurgence in his career, he sold 10 million records that year, performed to record breaking attendance and sold out crowds at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. This week Jay Dupuis, the former winner of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Championship, celebrated and recreated one of Elvis’ most notable performances, the midnight show on August 12, 1970. Not only did Jay recreate nearly every aspect of the show, but it was performed in the actual theater, the International Showroom at the Westgate Casino (formerly International Hotel) in Las Vegas. In an effort to ensure diverse sold-out crowds Elvis’ 1970 ticket prices in Las Vegas were $10.00, $7.50 and $5.00. (In 1970 the median family income was approximately $10K, his ticket prices are the equivalent of $83, $62 and $41 today).
