How To Operate: Solinst Well Casing & Depth Indicator: Metal Well Casing Detection: Total Well Depth

This video illustrates the operation of the ‪@SolinstCanada‬ Well Casing and Depth Indicator dual function probe. First we’ll see the #solinst model 105 probe’s Metal Casing Detection function: As the probe is lowered downhole, the Sonalert provides an intermittent beep and a bright flashing red LED to indicate the presence of magnetic steel metal well casing, or liner. Once the probe passes the metal casing completion depth, the Sonalert falls silent and the red LED switches off. It is good practice and helps ensure best accuracy, for the user to slowly pull back on the tape to verify the metal casing end. Once confirmed, the casing depth is read from the tape at the top of the casing. Next, we’ll show the model 105 probe Total Well Depth Indicator function: The probe is lowered slowly and steadily right to the base of the well or borehole. At that point, the probe plunger is depressed, causing the Sonalert and indicator light to beep and flash, at a much slower rate than the casing detector function. Again, to ensure best accuracy, the tape is raised and lowered to check that the probe well depth measurement is correct. Total well depth is read from the tape at the top of the casing.
