This is a unique, one-of-a-kind record that has rapidly become one of my most prized. It is as authentically "French" a version of these violin masterpieces as you are ever likely to hear, captured in ravishing sound by the legendary engineer, André Charlin. I tell the full story of the music, the musicians, the 1957 sessions, and the extraordinary care and attention to detail that the French Record Company took to reissue this "lost" record. Whilst the Ravel and Debussy recordings were originally released in mono, this is the first time they have been released in stereo, and the glorious Roussel sonata has never been released before - ever! Using a purist, all-analogue vintage mastering and cutting chain (cutting directly from the master tapes to the lathe), plus authentic, of-the-period printing techniques for the exquisite cover, the French Record Company has created a truly unique artifact and listening experience - all of which I discuss in detail.
