Howdy friends, this is Rickey Phipps, and this song, “The Last Stand,” comes straight from the dust, the saddle, and the firelight of an old cowboy’s life. I wrote this one with my good friend Scott Foggin out of Tombstone, Arizona, a place that still remembers what the West was built on. Scott and I both grew up loving real country music, the kind sung by men who lived what they wrote and meant every word they said. We both miss the legends who rode before us, and this song is our way of tipping our hats to them. “The Last Stand” is about the long ride. It’s about worn-out boots, calloused hands, cold mornings, and late nights by the fire. It’s about staying true when the world changes around you. It’s about an old cowboy holding on to his saddle, his faith, and his word till the very end. This song ain’t about fame. It ain’t about money. It’s about honor, grit, and living right. It’s about passing the spirit on to the next generation before the trail runs out.
