Faces of MWI Pumps: A Conversation with Marc Boudet In this episode of our Faces of MWI Pumps series, Marc Boudet, Vice President of Sales and Administration, sits down with MWI President Dana Eller to reflect on over four decades of dedication to the company. Having been with MWI for more than 42 years, Marc shares an inspiring journey filled with family ties, international milestones, and heartfelt moments. Marc first joined MWI through a family connection that encouraged him to apply. His very first assignment? Finding carpet for a propeller display. It might’ve seemed small, but it taught him a vital lesson early on: no job is too minor to matter. That display ended up being a powerful sales tool, often sparking conversations with customers—and even doubled as a jungle gym for a young Dana Eller. As Marc and Dana reminisce, they discuss how MWI evolved from a company focused mainly on agricultural pumps in the U.S. to an international player in the pump industry. Initially, U.S. agriculture was MWI’s primary market, but as competition increased, the company expanded globally with the leadership of Dana’s father, David Eller, and Marc’s support. International projects allowed MWI to take on larger, more customized jobs, and David’s drive helped grow domestic business through municipal contracts and acquisitions like Couch Pumps from Allis Chalmers—strengthening MWI’s presence in Florida. Marc has had a front-row seat to the company’s growth—particularly the transformation of MWI’s rental division and product line. What began with Lineshaft pumps now includes Submersible Electric pumps, Hydraflo axial and mixed-flow pumps, and a specialized line of smaller centrifugal pumps equipped for construction, industrial, and municipal jobs. This expansion allowed MWI to serve a broader range of clients, from short-term construction needs to long-term municipal projects—always backed by MWI’s engineering expertise. Marc speaks with pride about MWI’s family-owned culture, emphasizing the ability to make fast decisions and operate with heart. "If you can run, they’ll let you run," he says—an example of the trust and freedom that defines MWI's leadership style. He jokes about youthful pranks on Dana’s uncle, Dwight Eller, admitting they were immature—but still pretty funny. One of Marc’s proudest achievements is MWI’s work in Thailand. Over the past 30 years, the company has built a strong presence there, thanks to finding the right local representative—a key to success in international business. A turning point came in 2011 following catastrophic flooding; MWI partnered with the Thai Ministry and delivered its first major project. Since then, the country has become a thriving market for MWI, with more than 500 pumps installed. But the most rewarding experience of Marc’s career? Installing a Solarpedalflo pump in a remote village in Bamako, Mali. Surrounded by 30-40 children, Marc watched them drink clean water from the pump—something that completely eliminated dysentery in the village. That moment, he says, was life-changing. Marc also recalls company traditions and customer-first problem-solving—like the time he and David Eller flew across the country to help a client at the 23rd Street Water Treatment Plant in Arizona. They took quick action and forged a relationship that still exists today. Thanks to MWI, Marc has traveled to 53 countries and believes MWI Pumps are now operating in over 100. As he looks to the future, Marc is confident that MWI will continue to grow. Many competitors have shifted focus away from this market, leaving a void MWI is ready to fill. With continued investment in R&D, efficient technology, and knowledgeable new team members, MWI is well-positioned to lead the industry for the next 100 years. Marc closes the conversation with a heartfelt message for the company’s centennial: "You should feel blessed to work here. There aren’t many companies that can say they’ve been around for 100 years—and are getting better every year. We’ve had good times and bad, but we lean on each other, our history, and look forward to the future." 0:00 - Intro 0:36 - Marc Intro 0:50 - How I Got Here 1:40 - Beginnings - No Job is Too Small 2:50 - MWI Evolution & Expanding Markets 5:36 - Family Culture & What Sets Us Apart 6:30 - Funny Stories & Practical Jokes 7:40 - Significant Projects & Proud Achievements 10:10 - Shareable Stories & Traveling 11:58 - Leaders For The Next 100 Years 13:12 - Happy 100th Birthday Wishes to MWI #mwipumps #MWI #pumps #FacesofMWI #sales #legacy
