(What is the film’s significance in sci-fi history? And what are some notable visual mistakes in the film?) The Thing From Another World is a 1951 Science-fiction horror film based on the 1938 novella “Who Goes There?” By John W. Campbell (under the pseudonym Don A. Stuart) The story concerns an Air Force team and scientists after they have discovered a frozen flying saucer in the Arctic and a humanoid body. Their finding soon becomes a fight for survival against a plant-based alien after he is thawed from the block of ice. Now considered to be one of the best sci fi films of the 1950’s. And serving as an inspiration to John Carpenter’s 1982 version we previously reviewed. For us, this film just didn’t hit hard enough. But how did you feel about it? “What can we learn about that thing except a quicker way to die?” Intro score produced by R_Mac.
