Nigel Carr interviews Andrew Gower (Outlander, Prince Charles from his holiday (where he was attending the wedding of a close friend) in Columbia! Here Andrew talks about his musical career including his influences which include The Beatles, and the new release, the E.P. The Jacaranda which his band Gustaffson put out at the end of August. The band features long time musical collaborator James Webster (Webbo) as well as Elbow's Craig Potter on Piano, David Gleave on bass and Graham Bennett on drums. The E.P. is produced by Craig Potter. The band played a sold out launch party at The Jacaranda on the 20th August where they debuted tracks from the EP as well as new track Closer. The music video is be directed by award Documentary maker Barnie Douglas (The Edge, McEnroe) and features icon Sue Johnston. The EP launch was at Liverpool’s iconic Jacaranda club on the 20th of August. EP Track order: 1. Night People 2. The Jacaranda 3. Go Easy 4. Kingdom Andrew is filming a series YOU season 4 which is set in London, and he returns as a major lead in CARNIVAL ROW with Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom, plus OUTLANDER series 7 will be back where he plays the popular role of ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie.' Those three projects likely to be end of year/beginning of 2023. He is also known for his work on Netflix’s BLACK MIRROR ‘Crocodile’ opposite Andrea Riseborough, BEING HUMAN, CAPITAL, and for playing ‘Winston Smith’ in the West End version if Rob Icke’s stunning adaption of 1984. ANDREW GOWER is an actor and musician known for his stand-out performances in some of the UK’s most acclaimed productions. He is widely recognised for portraying ‘Bonnie Prince Charles Edward Stuart’ in the multi award-winning global hit series OUTLANDER (Starz) which has been confirmed for a 7th season; the thrilling and dark episode ‘Crocodile’ BLACK MIRROR written by Charlie Brooker and starring Andrea Riseborough, ‘Ezra Spurnrose’ in the epic fantasy noir drama CARNIVAL ROW (Amazon) alongside Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom which returns in early 2023. He is currently filming the new season of the hugely popular Netflix drama YOU, which will be out in early 2023 alongside Penn Badgley, Charlotte Ritchie and Tati Gabrielle. Andrew’s passion for music and songwriting will be showcased in his band ‘Gustaffson’s’ first EP called JACARANDA, produced by Mercury Music Award-winning band ELBOW it will be released on the 20th of August and the EP will launch at Liverpool’s iconic Jacaranda club, the inspiration behind the new music. The music video to ‘Jacaranda’ will be directed by the award winning documentary maker Barnie Douglas (The Edge, McEnroe) and will feature TV icon, Sue Johnston. Previously, has recorded several tracks with his former band, EMERSON, and also sang some of the songs during the live performance of FRANKENSTEIN’S WEDDING, a modern musical interpretation of the classic Gothic novel. He has also written a number of songs for the short film HUMPTY F*CKING DUMPTY. His career in film has seen him work with acting giants Gael Garcia Bernal and Claire Foy in ROSEWATER; he starred in the award-winning short OUT OF DARKNESS alongside Tom Hiddleston, Riz Ahmed, Noma Dumezweni and Monica Dolan and directed by Manjinder Virk, and more recently he starred in the feel good comedy feature RUNNING NAKED alongside Matthew McNulty and Tamzin Merchant, about two cancer survivors whose friendship is tested to its limits by s series of twists and turns. In theatre, Andrew is known for playing the lead role of ‘Winston Smith’ in the West End version of George Orwell’s 1984 (Playhouse Theatre, West End), an astounding adaptation written and directed by Rob Icke and Duncan MacMillan and produced by Sonia Friedman. The Times wrote “it remains one of the boldest and best page-to-stage adaptations to date.” He has also appeared at the Arcola Theatre in THE CONQUEST OF THE SOUTH POLE, at the Hampstead Theatre in TERROR TALES and FIRST TIME VOTERS directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones. Other TV highlights include POLDARK (BBC1), MISS SCARLET AND THE DUKE (Masterpiece PBS/Alibi), CAPITAL (BBC1), MONROE (ITV), MISFITS (E4), THE VILLAGE (BBC1), BEING HUMAN (BBC3), BLACK WORK (ITV) and A.D. THE BIBLE CONTINUES (NBC). He is graduate of the Oxford School of Drama and won the Spotlight Prize in the same year. Other alumni include Claire Foy, Freddy Carter, Sophie Cookson and Charity Wakefield.
